Despite the popular children’s fable, there isn’t actually any land at the North Pole, so Santa Claus has relocated to Lapland instead! Christmas in Lapland is authentic, which means that there won’t be advertisers trying to sell you something at every turn. For those without children, many travel companies require only that you bring the true child within you, so Santa holidays in Lapland aren’t just for families.
Most Santa holidays feature husky farms nearby if you’d like to take a quick ride as well as traditional North Pole activities such as tobogganing, reindeer rides and possibly even a short visit to the inside of an igloo! For those just wanting to visit Santa, many travel companies enhance the magic with private log cabin visits, a Christmas dinner or outdoor trails leading to a candle-lit grotto. If you choose to bring a family, there are ample child activities available, and some travel companies even award Arctic Circle crossing certificates and reindeer drivers licenses at the end of your holiday!
Those looking to experience Lapland and not just Santa Claus won’t be found wanting, as many holiday tour guides don’t restrict travelers to the Santa visiting theme promoted in many of the brochures available. Snowmobile rides and deep wilderness cabin stays are often included as part of the travel packages offered by many companies, and short skiing day trips can be added on to a Santa trip for a small price.
Santa holidays can really add something different to your Christmas. Retire from the hustle and bustle of urban life to experience an authentic North Pole Christmas with a visit to Lapland to visit Santa Claus!
